With over 40 years experience in accounting and taxation, Les Dobbie casts a long shadow.  He worked for the ATO for 14 years and held a variety of senior positions.  In 1980 he went into public practice.

Since then his business evolution has grown from strength-to-strength.  Today, he leads a team of experts that offer a full spectrum of financial services.

Les is highly regarded for his expertise in taxation and business matters, and has addressed many different groups with his views.  His credentials include Registered Tax Agent and Company Auditor, Fellow Member of the Australian Society of CPAs, and a Fellow Member of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

He attributes his longevity and success to a few core fundamentals; provide value-for-money services, be honest, and care about your clients.  He also acknowledges that his industry continues to be more regulated.  So professional development and education are critical to keeping his clients informed and providing the very best service.

Chris Dobbie

Chris has 18 years of professional accounting experience.  He joined his father's business in 1992.  He's since earned his way up the ladder, and today looks after a diverse client base ranging from small businesses to national firms.

His credentials include an active membership to CPA Australia and he's PS 146/RG 146 compliant (ASIC).  These are legal requirements for his profession.  You'd expect that.  What isn't so obvious - until you work with Chris, is his passion to be informed of any and all changes affecting his industry.  In maintaining industry awareness he can be of better service to his clients so their business, their lives and lifestyle improve.

Businesses often portray the image that they are "like a family". Spectrum has many family ties within its business.  Maybe none as significant as Les and Chris Dobbie.  Asked candidly about working with his dad, Chris replied, "He leads by example, so it's made it easier to learn to listen, to negotiate favourably for all parties and be passionate about my work in serving others."

Aaron Jones

For many of us, anything to do with math can be challenging.  Then there are those who "get it" like it's second nature.  And they go on to build a life around a math-based career, like accounting.  Like Aaron.

He began his career in accounting in 1997 as a trainee.  Within a few years he'd progressed to a senior management role.  He joined Spectrum in 2010 as a Partner.  Aaron's success, at first glance, might appear to be of pure luck and chance.

But it's not.  Aaron's success has been driven by his simple realisation that he's passionate about serving others through his expertise in accounting.  And he's pursued his passion to great effect, helping, guiding and advising his clients to success.

He's a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia, he's an approved auditor, and a self managed super fund specialist.

Beyond his natural abilities in accounting (and all things math), he pursues another passion. He coaches the junior touch football teams, Coomera and Gold Coast Sharks.

Renee Brimelow

Renee is our Business Manager, Accountancy & Tax division. It's a title that understates the role she's played in Spectrum's evolution.

She joined Spectrum in 2000 while working on her B.Bus with majors in marketing and management. While she went on to earn her degree she also received her diploma in financial planning and became a Commissioner for Declarations.

Besides her education, she's a natural in business organisation and structure. This makes her a perfect fit for running the engine room of our business. It's worth noting that Renee has excellent communications skills, and this is a significant benefit to our clients.

The combination of business intelligence, efficiency and friendliness is unbeatable. We know it and so do our clients.

Kevin Butt

Most of us have heard - and agreed, with the timeless Benjamin Franklin quote, "...nothing can be said to be certain in life, except death and taxes." And when it comes to 'taxes', most of us need guidance.

That's where Kevin comes in.

He's worked in the accounting and tax industry since 2000. He's earned the commensurate credentials (CPA, a university degree in accounting and legal studies) and he served as a CPA Branch Councillor after graduating from the program with high distinctions.

If there's anything consistent about taxes, it's that the rules governing compliancy seem to change often. To be expert in tax consulting, you need to keep abreast of the on-going changes. That's what Kevin's clients expect from him, and it's what they receive.

Kevin would never claim it. But his clients will tell you he's an expert in tax compliance. The fact that he's also expert in accounting doesn't hurt. In fact, his title here is "senior accountant". If you need guidance with tax compliance, you couldn't ask for a more competent guide.
